The Tanzania NEGLECTED TROPICAL DISEASE CONTROL Program entered its fifth year of activities with some districts entering their fifth round of treatment. The program has gained popularity and has expanded to cover 100 districts in 16 regions. The program has covered the most highly endemic areas of the country. This year the mapping exercise for trachoma has finally been completed indicating that the total trachoma endemic districts in the country currently are 47,TAS for LF have been done in 4 districts andthis document outlines the activities of 2014 and outlines projections from 2005-2010 based on the current mapping data.
The program has received enormous political support and overwhelming public interest in the disease.This year also we managed to integrate Ivermectin and Albendazole distribution with the national Measles rubella vaccination Campaign.The program would like to acknowledge financial support received from USAID through ENVISION, and APOC, Department of International Development UK through the Liverpool NTD support Center and SightSavers through IANET project.
